Profile and Job Description:

The profile of the Children and Preteen Pastor/Director should be a blend between people and task personality traits. This individual should exhibit leadership and people skills as well as have one or more of the following spiritual gifts: • leadership • encouragement • teaching • discernment, and/or • pastor/shepherd


Position Priorities:

  1. Shepherd K-6th grade children by building relationships and investing time in them and their parents.
  2. Create environments of disciple-making, safety, cleanliness, and fun while creatively presenting the Gospel in various ways.
  3. Strategically implement the purpose and priorities of Crossgate within the context of CCM.
    1. Lead children/preteens to make a decision for Christ, including salvation and baptism with a testimony.
      1. Teach children/preteens how to share their testimony, providing opportunities at Crossgate and locally.
    2. Assist children/preteens whose desire is to become a member of Crossgate Church.
      1. Develop and/or provide community opportunities in which children/preteens and their parents can participate (VBS, Spring Fling, Fall Fest, etc.).
      2. Provide camps, as well as other local opportunities (Fields of Faith, Courts for Christ), encouraging the participation of children/preteens and their parents.
    3. Encourage children/preteens to join a group as part of the discipleship pathway.
    4. Embolden children/preteens to meet a need at Crossgate Church and beyond.
  4. Shepherd leaders by building teams and relationships while investing time in them.
    1. Meet with leaders individually at least 2-3 times per year.
    2. Assemble CCM ministry leadership on a regular basis.
    3. Clearly communicate expectations and goals of CCM ministries often.
  5. Recruit great leaders who love children/preteens and want to help point them to Jesus.
    1. Interview potential leaders as it relates to specific needs.
    2. Create an environment that attracts new leaders.
    3. Train and equip growing followers of Jesus who live and love like Jesus and lead children to follow him.
  6. Equip leaders to do ministry with excellence.
    1. Conduct orientation meetings with new and existing leaders.
    2. Provide opportunities for leaders to develop skill sets.
    3. Make available resources and ideas for leaders to use in ministering to children/preteens and parents.
  7. Connect with parents and involve them in ministry as the primary disciple-makers of their children/preteens.
    1. Communicate the importance of parental involvement.
    2. Provide resources to assist parents in being the primary spiritual disciple-makers of their children/preteens.
  8. Develop a ministry that is comprehensive in scope.
    1. Lead the ministry leaders of CCM and work alongside the Preschool Director and the Student Pastor to develop a comprehensive strategy that helps a child grow as a disciple from early childhood to college.
    2. Oversee the Preschool Director with guidance, direction, and assistance.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field from accredited university.
  • Graduate/seminary degree preferred.
  • 3+ years working in children's ministry and/or related field (camps, parachurch, etc.).
  • Committed to personal growth in their relationship with Jesus.
  • Experience managing staff and/or volunteer teams, handling and resolving difficult situations in a skilled and professional manner.
  • Has shown the ability to recruit, train, and develop leaders.

COMPENSATION:

Commensurate with experience. Includes benefits and PTO.
