JOB DESCRIPTION:

The principal function of the Worship Pastor is to model, serve, and lead the body of Christ in worship, discipleship, and outreach through the music ministries of the church.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION: At minimum, a bachelor’s degree in a music-related field of study (or a bachelor’s degree in an unrelated field with demonstrated competency in the area of worship leadership)


QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must be a born-again Christian for at least 5 years.
  • Must meet the qualifications of an elder/overseer in 1 Timothy 3 and Titus 1
  • Must affirm the 2000 Baptist Faith & Message
  • Must demonstrate a credible call to ministry.
  • Candidate should become a member of CVBC and fulfill all expectations of church membership.
  • Must be a team player and communicate clearly.
  • Demonstrated competency in leading a variety of musical styles - including traditional hymns and modern worship music.
  • Competency with basic office-related software and ProPresenter.
  • Must submit to a criminal background check and a credit check.


RESPONSIBILITIES

Oversee the entire music ministry of the church.

  • Choose music for and direct the choir and orchestra.
  • Coordinate special music and soloists in conjunction with the pastor’s preaching and teaching plans.
  • Organize, maintain, and update the music library
  • Schedule and direct rehearsals.
  • Work with the pastor and other worship leadership in developing and implementing meaningful worship experiences for the congregation, giving attention to the variety of preferences represented within the congregation.
  • Coordinate with pastor and other staff members any seasonal plans including, but not limited to, Christmas, Easter, Homecoming, etc.
  • Be available to church families to plan, lead and approve music for weddings & funerals.
  • Recruit new members for the music ministry.
  • Coordinate the training and use of instrumentalists and vocalists in groups or as individuals.
  • Maintain musical instruments and arrange for tuning and upkeep.
  • Provide direct supervision to church musicians and technical staff.
  • Enlist and train necessary volunteers for technical aspects of worship services.
  • Working with other pastors and volunteers, develop musical “feeder programs” in both children’s ministry and student ministry.
  • In conjunction with the pastor and deacons, provide direct pastoral care to members of the music ministry and their families.
  • Be prepared to preach and teach on occasion.
  • Share “on-call” duties with other members of the pastoral staff.
  • Project a positive reputation within the community regarding CVBC, her members, and her ministries..
  • Participate in all church staff meetings.
  • Prepare and administer the Music Program budget.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Pastor.

JOB STATUS:

Full-Time

COMPENSATION:

$45,000 - $55,000
