JOB DESCRIPTION:

Job description:

Reporting directly to the Bishop, and under the broad supervision of the Children Advisory Council, the director will work at least 36 hours a week.


KEY ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF CHILDREN MINISTRY DIRECTOR

  1. Establish and maintain relationships of trust with children, parents, and volunteers in the church and in the community.
  2. Oversee children’s ministry activities from nursery through elementary school.
  3. Establish goals for ministry programs and maintain a safe environment for children to learn and grow spiritually.
  4. Identify and empower teachers throughout the year by nurturing and providing continuous training and development in the children’s ministry.
  5. Vision, plan, and implement Children’s Ministry events. These include but not limited to Easter, Vacation Bible School and Christmas.
  6. Establish and manage children ministry budget in collaboration with administration (Finance Dept.) to assure prudent utilization of resources.
  7. Plan and execute high-quality, developmentally appropriate faith formation experiences.
  8. Create and nurture a culture of inclusion, recognizing the diversity of our members and community.
  9. Other duties as the Bishop may assign or delegate.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

QUALIFICATIONS OF KACC CHILDREN MINISTRY DIRECTOR

  1. Must be:
    1. A Christian, well-grounded in faith and knowledgeable in the word of God
    2. A regular churchgoer, passionate and commitment for children ministry.
    3. Competent in working in a culturally diverse setting
    4. Experienced in nurturing, teaching, inspiring, and managing a broad age range of children
    5. Dependable and have reliable means of transportation
  2. Must have:
    1. At least 3 years of experience in children’s ministry, teaching, and/or management.
    2. Knowledgeable in child psychology.
    3. At least 2 years administrative experience.
    4. Strong organizational skills.
    5. Innovative and creative approaches to teaching curriculum.
    6. Good interpersonal and communications skills
    7. Basic computer skills.
    8. Strong conflict resolution skills.
    9. CPR skills
    10. Skills and experience in resource sourcing mobilization for children ministry will be an added advantage for consideration
  3. Background check is required
