Merriam Christian Chapel is a non-denominational church of about 300. It is located in rural Noble County, Indiana, approximately 20 miles northwest of Fort Wayne. God has blessed Merriam Christian Chapel over many years through expository Bible teaching, teen and children’s ministries, missions, and generosity. We are seeking a committed Christian leader with a passion for discipling young people to fill the role of Youth Pastor. The ideal candidate is an experienced minister who relates well with youth, parents, and adult volunteers.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Plan, direct, and implement all aspects of a balanced youth ministry (grades 7-12) in the areas of discipleship, group building, worship, outreach, missions, and teen club events.
  • Develop relationships with teens through visits, counseling, school activities, and other appropriate contact.
  • Mentor teens in developing their leadership and discipleship skills along with their spiritual gifts.
  • Promote Christian service through age‐appropriate service projects throughout the year.
  • Recruit, supervise, and equip adult leaders to help implement the youth program. Strategically plan and delegate responsibilities.
  • Direct and oversee youth ministry teaching material for Teen Club and Teen Sunday School. Develop a Bible teaching calendar to equip the youth to grow in discipleship.
  • Develop relationships and maintain consistent communication with parents of participating youth.
  • Expose teens to Christian colleges.
  • Assist in transitioning teens to college/career ministries and activities.
  • Institute the Child Protection Policy in letter and spirit, ensuring that the appropriate safety and security policies are followed in all youth ministry settings.
  • Be available to preach and teach the Bible in adult worship services when asked.
  • Attend meetings as a non‐voting member of the Deacon Board, Trustee Board, and Church Council.
  • Accountable to the Sr. Pastor in reporting structure, ministry effectiveness, encouragement and support.



  • Proven track record of involvement in youth ministry.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred, in biblical studies or related field.
  • A lifestyle congruent with the biblical requirements for Church leaders. (1 Tim 3)
  • Full agreement with the doctrine statement of Merriam Christian Chapel.
  • Growing in Christian faith and character.
  • Ability to teach the Word of God effectively, developing relevant and life applicable lessons.
  • Self-motivated, self-disciplined, and coachable.
  • Oversee appropriate communication, making sure that opportunities for connection and involvement are clear to students, leaders and parents both in the church and in the community.
  • Demonstrates a passion with purpose for youth ministry.
  • Lead with the intentionality of inclusion of all students, and outreach to the community.
  • Energetic, warm, innovative individual able to share the love of Jesus with youth and their families.


Salary will be commensurate with experience and will be discussed as we move through the interview process. Funds for health insurance and housing are included in the overall compensation package. The compensation package is evaluated on an annual basis by the church council and approved by the congregation.
