JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Minister of Children will be responsible to the Pastor to work in cooperation with all staff ministers for the spiritual well-being of infants through 6th grade children and their families. The promotion and implementation of programs and outreach opportunities such as AWANA, Sunday school, Next Generation and VBS are vital to fulfilling the mission of reaching our community. The Children’s Minister will be a member of the team, which seeks to carry out the total ministry of the church. This person shall be a maturing Christian, naturally born male, having been recognizably called by God into the gospel ministry. They shall adhere to the Baptist doctrinal distinctive as found in the Southern Baptist Convention’s Baptist Faith and Message 2000. Specialized training in children’s ministry is desirable.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

DUTIES: (Major specific tasks include but are not limited to the following)

  1. Consult with church leaders to plan, coordinate, direct and evaluate the outreach opportunities of the church with the cooperation of other staff persons to effectively communicate the gospel in all aspects of ministry.
  2. Organize training and planning sessions for children’s leaders/workers.
  3. Shall be responsible for specified ages of the overall children’s ministry.
  4. Shall keep informed on children’s strategies and outreach opportunities, methods, materials, promotions and administration.
  5. Plan, coordinate and implement annual or special children outreach endeavors.
  6. Communicate and promote the purpose, vision, events and opportunities of the children’s ministry to the church.
  7. Approve all children’s ministries programs, curriculum, activities and disbursement of funds for supplies and projects, keeping within budgeted amount.
  8. Assist Pastor in other duties as assigned under the general ministry of Trace Creek Baptist Church such as, but not limited to, visitation and other church-related activities.
  9. Participate in training opportunities offered.
  10. He will work toward the equipping of families for the spiritual well-being of their children.
  11. Be available to counsel and pray with children regarding spiritual matters.
  12. Pray for the children and children’s ministry workers.
  13. Screen children’s workers/leaders before placing them in ministry and attempt to create a safe atmosphere for them and all children.
