Basic Job Description:

Provide leadership and oversight for all aspects of the Student Ministry at Woodlawn Baptist Church so that students can know and follow Jesus Christ, demonstrating a contagious love for Jesus and the Word. Although the primary area of focus is Student Ministries, other ministerial duties that are commensurate with the skills and training of the selected candidate will be assigned.

Required Attributes:

  • Gifted and called to student ministry, having a love for young people, and a passion for evangelism and outreach, both personally and at the ministry level.
  • Is an engaging teacher, with a sufficient biblical and theological background, who affirms the Baptist Faith and Message 2000 Statement of Faith.
  • Exhibits a personal spiritual life congruent with biblical mandates for leaders.

Preferred Attributes:
• Organized, prepared, punctual, and proactive, with a positive attitude. • Currently possesses or in pursuit of a degree in a related Christian studies field, experience in student ministry, basic administrative skills • Self-motivated and able to work without close supervision; flexible to changes in procedures and/or direction.

Ministry Expectations:

  • Create and implement a long-term vision for Woodlawn Baptist Church’s Student ministry.
  • Invest and engage relationally with youth.
  • Lead and organize effective youth programs implementing fellowship, worship, biblical teaching, discipleship, and evangelism, as well as ministry and mission opportunities, including local community activities
  • Recruit, train and guide ministry volunteers with diverse gifts and personalities.
  • Promote an environment where students feel valued and connected to each other as a church family and integrated into other aspects of the church family.
  • Provide biblical guidance to team leaders and students on an individual basis as needed
  • Ensure safe and healthy classroom/small group environments, confronting problems and managing conflict
  • Develop and communicate a calendar of scheduled activities and events to keep students and parents aware of plans for the Student Ministry.
  • Plan and manage the Student Ministry budgets
  • Duties will always include other ministerial tasks that arise.
