Southern Baptist

We are seeking a pastor who is totally in love with His Lord and Savior and that love permeate his whole being. In a broken and hurting world, we are seeking a leader who will love all people through the eyes of Jesus and will want to share God's love with each person he encounters. In addition, we are searching for a man who will help disciple and encourage us in sharing the gospel and love of Christ. The position is for a full-time pastor in rural Northeastern New Mexico. Clayton is a small, one stop light town with a population of around 2,750 people. On Sundays, our church averages 75 people. Our congregation consists of 50% members who are advanced in years. Of the other 50%, 2/3rd of the population are children and youth and the other 1/3rd is young adults. Our congregation loves meet and greet time on Sunday mornings, and we sing a blend of music to help reach all generations. Being a small town church, visitation is very important as well as community involvement.

Our church only has two full time positions, pastor and groundskeeper, and one part time position, secretary. Because of this, our pastor does have to wear many hats. We do have great church members who help carry out the ministries of the church. Currently, the church is involved in the following ministries- Sunday morning services, Sunday night Bible study, Wednesday night kids and youth programs (average around 60 students), Clothes Closet, Food Pantry, and Kingdom Men.

The position comes with a set salary, a parsonage, retirement and insurance benefits. We are seeking a pastor who is a Southern Baptist Pastor, has finished seminary, who is or will be ordained, who agrees with the Southern Baptist Statement of Faith and Message and revisions, and who chooses to live by 1 Timothy 3:1-7, Titus 1:6-9, and 1 Peter 5:1-2.

The pastor duties include:

  • Preaching on Sunday morning with an invitation
  • Teaching Sunday night Bible study
  • Preaching and assisting at funerals and weddings
  • Marriage counseling before performing weddings
  • Officiate Holy Communion and Baptisms
  • Visitation
  • Attend to members in the hospital
  • Maintain office hours
  • Manage church staff with the help of the personal committee
  • Attend church meetings when pastor guidance is needed
  • Helping at church activities when needed

Computer and technology skills are a plus, as well as willingness to attend church camp (Falls Creek) if possible.

We will discuss salary and benefits further at interviews.

BACKGROUND CHECKS: You Owe It To Your Church

A ministry that serves children and youth has the obligation to exercise “due diligence” with regards to protecting its members, especially the children. By performing background checks on your perspective ministers your church is…

  • Putting up a safeguard at the “doorway” of the organization that will, in most cases, scare off sexual predators.
  • Offering peace of mind to discerning parents when choosing a church, by knowing your ministry is being pro-active in trying to protect the children.

Protect My Ministry -

Protect My Ministry

Thousands of ministries trust Protect My Ministry, a ministry background check company. One of the only background check companies that will do a free “re-verification” of records from the national criminal database for a volunteer, and to also do a “true” 50 state search on sexual offenders.

Protect My Ministry is a Christian-owned and operated business, being 51% business and 49% ministry. This business was started as the co-owners noticed that churches were not fully aware of the best sources for background checks or truly what they were getting.
