JOB DESCRIPTION:
PURPOSE: The church financial administrator is one of stewardship; to manage, safeguard, and maintain the financial resources entrusted to the church by the congregation and others to carry out its mission and vision.
DUTIES:
Though others in the church share responsibility as stewards of church assets and financial operations, the financial administrator has the specific responsibility of managing the church’s financial resources by (1.) ensuring that sound fiscal practices and procedures are followed, and (2.) providing accurate, up-to-date information on the church’s financial position to the congregation for review and decision-making purposes.
Specific responsibilities of the financial administrator include performing and overseeing the following functions, including but not limited to:
- Reconcile bank accounts
- Approve checks prior to signing and disbursement
- Produce financial reports for the quarterly business meetings
- Work with administrative staff to ensure accurate record keeping in our Realm system
- Work with the Treasurer and Stewardship Committee, staff and other ministry teams to oversee other financial duties as needed and requested
- Oversee functions, listed below, in collaboration with the office administrator and other committees:

- Maintain accurate records of church finances
- Maintain the process of income receipts and recording, including counting, and depositing of tithes and offerings
- Maintain the disbursement and recording of all expenditures
- Maintain the recording of all members’ gifts into personal giving records
- Assist in the preparation of the annual budget for the church
- Maintain internal controls to protect the assets of the church
- Oversee accounting/bookkeeping services authorized and requested
- Maintain the processing of the church payroll
- Oversee expense reports and other expenditures of the church
REQUIREMENTS:
- Previous experience (8+ years) as treasurer, accountant, or controller
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
- Previous church finance experience preferred
- Experience with Realm preferred
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Well organized and able to work independently
- Maintains confidentiality
REPORTS TO: Personnel Committee
POSITION STATUS: Part-time, 25+ hours per week
SALARY: $35/hour
COMPENSATION:
$35 per hour
