The Ministry Assistant for our Two Notch church will execute ministry tasks and events to ensure that department leaders can focus more on leadership responsibilities that only they can accomplish. The department leaders that the Ministry Assistant will receive tasks from are: 1.) Lead Pastor 2.) Deacon over outreach 3.) Deacon over Shepherding 4.) Deacon over Kids & Families Ministries. Along with accomplishing day-to-day tasks for these leaders, the Ministry Assistant will look for ways to help all departments run more efficiently and effectively. The Minister Of Music will oversee all aspects of Sunday Worship relating to Production and Music as well as assist with setup and tear-down as needed.


  • Accomplish ministry-related tasks delegated by Lead Pastor, Deacon over outreach, Deacon over Shepherding, and Kids & Families Director by given Deadline
  • When task can not be accomplished by stated deadline, alert all necessary leaders, communicating when task will be accomplished
  • Perform general accounting and bookkeeping duties
  • Coordinating food (when necessary), use of facility/location, resources, childcare (when necessary), and necessary A/V equipment for events and lunches. Events and lunches include but are not limited to:
    • Lead Team Lunches, Weekends, & Retreats
    • Outreach Team Lunches
    • Volunteer Appreciation Events
    • LifeGroup Leader Mtgs
    • Member Meetings
    • Midtown Class
    • Kids & Families Events
    • Outreach Team Mtgs
    • Smaller Outreach Events
  • Assist with Setup & Tear-Down each Sunday
    • Serve as member of Setup Team until it is time to fulfill responsibilities as worship leader
    • Serve as a member of Tear-Down Team until all equipment and materials are put up and the room is set back to the way it was before setup
    • Coordinate with Lead Pastor to ensure building is properly secured before leaving
  • Oversee Production Each Week Using Planning Center
    • Schedule musicians, singers, scripture readers, call to worship, and vision time announcer
    • Place scriptures, songs, vision time announcements, and all special elements into Planning Center in a timely manner
  • Lead Praise Team to minister excellently
    • Schedule songs
    • Coordinate Rehearsals and Run-Throughs
    • Recruit new members of praise team
    • Execute Praise Team tryouts for all who are interested
    • Work with Downtown and Lexington worship leaders to coordinate and execute City-Wide Praise & Worship Songs
    • Become proficient at playing an instrument
    • Work towards being able to lead vocally and with an instrument during Sunday Services as soon as possible


In order to lead effectively at Midtown, the Ministry Assistant & Minister Of Music must have the following competencies and qualifications:

  • 2 Years of experience working or volunteering in a ministry role in church or para-church ministry
  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred
  • Passion for and commitment to accomplishing tasks with excellence and efficiency
  • Passion for serving to allow others to maximize their potential and leadership ability
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Strong communication skills
  • Good planner who is able to be flexible as issues arise.
  • Detail oriented and able to multitask
  • Ability to oversee systems and programs
  • Ability to work independently and in cooperation with others
  • Ability to consistently work independently and perform tedious tasks
  • Ability to plan cohesive Worship Services that lead congregation to know, love, and worship Christ
  • Ability to lead Praise Team to minister with excellence during Worship Services
  • Ability to lead Praise Team to lead our congregation in worshiping Christ in a way that is very accessible to those who are fond of the African-American worship singing tradition
  • Ability to sing and play an instrument (or willingness to learn to play) with enough excellence to lead our congregation to worship through song
