Summary In consultation with the leading pastor of the service, the Worship Leader develops the weekly praise service including recruiting and leading volunteers in all music aspects of this 9 AM modern worship service.

  • A call to ministry and spiritual gifts relevant to ministry in this particular area.
  • Committed to continual spiritual, personal, and educational growth.
  • Skilled in organization, administration, and interpersonal relationships.
  • Preference is given to Methodist background.


  • Cooperate fully with Pastors and church leaders for the good of the church.
  • Attend appropriate meetings at the request of the Senior Pastor.
  • Support the vision and mission of CFUMC.
  • Compliance with CFUMC safe sanctuary practices.
  • Preparing music in advance of rehearsals, keeping music organized, and continually seeking out new songs for the service.
  • Develop and administer an annual budget for this worship ministry in accordance with the financial policies of the church.


  • Ability to play keyboard or guitar, is preferred.
  • Ability to sing and have a good understanding of and ability to lead contemporary Christian music. Prefer relevant experience in this area.
  • Having musical gifts and the ability to develop, coordinate, oversee and staff all areas of the praise and contemporary worship ministry.
  • Leading the congregation verbally (including greetings, prayers, transitions, and singing) to help people praise and connect with God through worship.
  • Basic knowledge of audio / visual equipment. Skilled in the use of technology in worship and in the use of sound, lighting, computers, worship software, and video projection.
  • Select and prepare 3-5 songs each week for the service.
  • Create and implement new worship opportunities for future worship services (Plan to introduce 1-3 new songs each quarter, focusing on songs appropriate for congregational singing vs. songs more appropriate to a soloist and songs that align with worship team skills and available instruments. Plan to incorporate non-musical worship components on a periodic basis (i.e., videos, skits, readings, etc.)
  • Coordinate the setup of equipment on Sunday mornings (7:00am.)
  • Lead “warm-up” rehearsal on Sunday morning (7:45am.)
  • Schedule musicians, singers, tech team each week.
  • Lead a mid-week practice as needed.
  • Knowledge of Planning Center and Worship Storm.
  • Coordinate Planning Center each week and ensure multi-media is prepared.
  • Collaborate with leading pastor on the weekly order of worship.
  • Submit check requests for paid musicians (monthly or as needed.)
  • Participate in regular meetings for The Method Leadership Team under the direction of the leading pastor.
  • Coordinate music for special services - Christmas, Easter, Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, and others with the Senior Pastor and worship team.
