DENOMINATION:

JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Dogwood Trails Baptist Association encompasses three counties in East Texas and is composed of over 100 churches.

Please see the following expectations:

  1. It is the desire of the DTBA that the Executive Director focus on church revitalization and church health programming for our churches. With churches struggling in many key indicators, it is important that the Executive Director be familiar with common church revitalization strategies and church health approaches to appropriately and competently assist churches.
  2. It is expected that the Executive Director will coordinate and promote missional involvement among the churches of the DTBA. The foundation of this process is to promote, encourage, and train churches that are not currently engaged in any missional activities to partner with other churches that are actively involved in mission projects. He will facilitate the transfer of information and missional opportunities among the churches and help create partnerships among the churches. He will also plan, promote, coordinate, and execute mission projects at the associational level in an attempt to engage churches that are not involved and to broaden the mission projects of already engaged churches.
  3. It is the desire of the DTBA that the Executive Director will demonstrate a proficiency in technology relevant and common within the normal operation of churches. One of the ministries of the association is to be the first stop resource for churches looking to expand, maintain, or step into new areas of ministry which includes the deployment of technology and computer systems. The Executive Director must demonstrate a working knowledge of how to assist churches in their basic technological needs and must be able to connect them to resources and assistance that is beyond the scope of common technological knowledge. This must first be demonstrated in the upkeep of the digital presence of the DTBA website and how technology is used for training, engagement, and communication within the ministries of the DTBA.
  4. It is expected that the Executive Director will open, maintain, and effectively implement clear lines of communication between the association and the churches, church to church, church to the denominational offices, and the association to the pastors. The Executive Director must employ the most common and accepted types of communication to make sure that information is carried freely and quickly among the churches. The Executive Director ought to maintain clear lines of communication beyond the church staff to help promote training and support for lay led ministries within the churches of the DTBA.
  5. It is expected that the Executive Director will maintain a close and healthy working relationship with the BGCT, SBTC, and the greater SBC body of denominational departments. The churches of the DTBA come from a diverse set of affiliations and the Executive Director must reflect a willingness to serve all churches of the DTBA by maintaining a close relationship with the BGCT, SBTC, and the SBC.
  6. It is the desire of the DTBA that the Executive Director create avenues, support, and promotion of the ethnic churches of our association. It is the heartfelt desire of the churches of the DTBA to have an Executive Director who will make a concerted effort in establishing closer relationships with our sister churches to foster a representation in our association that is reflective of the makeup of our communities and the churches that are in them.
  7. It is the desire of the DTBA that the Executive Director will be intentional in creating relationships with churches within the area of the DTBA to introduce the prospect of voluntary affiliation with us. He must also make a concerted effort in seeking reconciliation or reengagement with churches that have passively disassociated with the DTBA by no longer contributing monetarily or no longer participating in the activities and business of the DTBA. The Executive Director must be a unifying catalyst for the churches of the DTBA by demonstrating the importance for every church to be involved and supportive of the work of the association.
  8. It is the expectation of the DTBA that the Executive Director be a catalyst for change within churches and the associational environment in which they operate. This is traditionally manifested in training opportunities for pastors, staff, church leaders, and lay volunteers in ministry avenues and methods that are innovating the larger church world. The Executive Director ought to be a change agent for the association by constantly encouraging pastors and staff to think in new and creative ways to adapt to the ever changing and challenging ministry landscape.
