JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Pastor is responsible for providing administrative leadership for the church and for using his skills in proclamation and pastoral care in meeting the needs of persons in church and community.

Responsibilities:

1. Serve as the spiritual leader and overseer of the congregation.

2. Proclaim the gospel and lead the church in proclaiming the gospel to the church and community.

3. Preach at all worship services or arrange for someone else to perform this function.

4. Lead or delegate the leadership of the congregational services, plan, coordinate and evaluate congregational services.

5. Plan for and provide leadership in the observance of the church ordinances.

6. Conduct counseling sessions; perform wedding ceremonies; conduct funerals.

7. Work with deacon, church officers, and committees as they perform their assigned responsibilities; train and lead the deacons in a program of family ministries.

8. Participate in the church visitation program which includes hospital visitation and any other outreach that is necessary.

9. Lead the staff and the church in a caring ministry for persons in the church and community.

10. Provide administrative leadership for the total church program.

11. Serve as moderator of the trustees meetings.

12. Plan and lead regular staff meetings.

13. Recommend and advise on the selection of all staff members and the determining of their duties.

14. Give supervision to other members of the church staff.

15. Evaluate all ministerial staff on an annual basis with the Personnel Committee.
