JOB DESCRIPTION:
Next Gen Pastor (Birth – 12th Grade)
Job Description Hours: Full-Time (Approximately 40+ hours per week)
Qualifications
- Have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ
- Be a member in good standing
- Have a desire to teach and mentor young people with patience and an accepting heart
- Have an educational background in Christian Ministries, Biblical Studies, or a related field, and be either Licensed or Ordained in the Christian Church
Purpose of Position
- Ignite a desire for a genuine relationship with Christ and equip young people for the spiritual battles they face
- Support the overall ministry of Port Orange Christian Church by leading young people and their families to follow Jesus
- Encourage and equip parents to develop a biblical worldview in their children
- Promote Scripture reading, study and memorization, prayer, and personal Bible reading
- Teach a Bible-based curriculum and encourage a biblically based lifestyle among young people
Responsible To
The Next Gen Pastor is responsible to the Elders of POCC, working directly under the supervision of the Lead Pastor and Operations Manager. This is a full-time position with regular office hours Monday–Thursday as established by the Elders of POCC. Any business or teaching responsibilities outside those of POCC must have the approval of the Elders of POCC. The position will be evaluated annually by the Lead Pastor and Operations Manager.
Job Duties (Include, But Are Not Limited To)
- Provide oversight and leadership of Children’s Ministries, including Weekend, Mid-Week, Nursery, Toddlers, Preschool, Elementary, Children’s Church, Special Events, Vacation Bible School, and Camp
- Provide oversight and leadership of Student Ministries, including Teen Classes and Bible Studies, Youth Services, Special Events, and Camp
- Oversee the setup and operation of all Children’s Ministry environments on Sunday mornings, including check-in, classroom environments, security, check-out, setup, and tear-down
- Adapt and prepare curriculum for Children’s and Student Ministries
- Invite, train, and empower volunteers to provide leadership within Children’s and Student Ministries, including recruiting, background checks, training, prayer support, and follow-up
- Maintain and distribute a monthly volunteer schedule
- Create and effectively manage Children’s and Student Ministry budgets
- Maintain Children’s and Student Ministry environments, rooms, cabinets, and resources
- Communicate consistently with parents and provide tools and resources for spiritual leadership within the family
- Oversee communication between the church, children, students, and families
- Communicate weekly and meet monthly with Children’s and Student Ministry leaders to build ownership and equip them to lead volunteers
- Create systems and events to thank and appreciate Children’s and Student Ministry volunteers
- Create and maintain distinct Children’s and Student Ministry brands within Port Orange Christian Church, including names, themes, décor, graphics, and web presence
- Participate in weekly staff meetings and other meetings as scheduled
- Be willing to work with area churches to advance the Kingdom

COMPENSATION:
$42,000 plus $3,000 benefit package
